This is my knockoff version of the soft aqua five plank side table that made its rounds on Pinterest. DIY Pinners were so curious as to how to construct it, I decided to give it a shot for my weekly IndyStar newspaper column.

Let me just say, wielding a circular saw proved harder than it looked, but even with a few mistakes, my soft pink version (four planks) provides a nifty little sofa side table with a magazine alcove.

Go to IndyStar.com to read the full tutorial. They haven’t posted a gallery of photos yet, but if you’re unsure how to proceed, leave me a comment and I’ll get back to you.

My column highlights a few mistakes I made while making this. I make mistakes all the time which goes to prove that DIY doesn’t always turn into a disaster, even when it’s headed in that direction. I also bought the soft aqua to give that a try too, but I did pink so I wasn’t a complete copy catter. I’m thinking the pink would look sweet in a nursery or little girls room, OR a Mom’s home office. Now I need to whiten up that loveseat!!! Slipcovers may be in store for that one.
